I have been using this simple method of passive solar heating for years and it works and cost nearly nothing at all.

You need 4 mil black plastic, staple gun, and a south facing window.

This simple setup will add 130+ degrees to your room on sunny days (it must be direct sunlight)

This is part of my 8th grade year-long project. I did my project on Solar and Wind energy. For the project we were required to have a visual on our presentation table. So i built a solar circuit with a 150 watt light bulb powering a small LED light, and a small computer fan.

I also built A Savonius wind turbine that generated about 1.5 volts. I plan on taking a video of my turbine in action, but i need to purchase a voltmeter first so i can prove that it actually makes electricity.

I had both my wind turbine and my solar setup on a table in my schools cafeteria. I used a small house fan to turn my turbine and a lab light to power my solar part. The solar part was different then it was in this video because i had it all mounted on a piece of plywood.

Gathering my supplies for my visuals and building them probably took only 1 month out of the 5 months i spent on the whole project. The other 4 months i spent gathering over 150 facts on the topic, vocab words, writing a journal on my progress, making a scrapbook of articles and pictures, and making a TriFold to put on my table.

The presentation was open to the public for 2 hours, and in that two hours i was swamped with people, asking questions, sharing stories, looking at my turbine and solar stuff…it was great. we were supposed to be able to leave our table and look around at my classmates projects, but i never got a chance to like everyone else.

But i had so much fun doing it and i learned ALOT! plus, i got an A!

A song about how the mainstream media is over-exaggerating about 2012 catastrophes and how 2012 will have ups with downs too. If you listen to the whole song all the way, it should give your kundalini energy a tingle if you get your meditation into the song. I threw in some extra 5D brainwave synchronization.

UC Merced is developing concentrated solar energy techniques using nonimaging optics. Our first projects are nontracking solar collectors for high temperature (200 deg C), concentrating photovoltaic concentrators for use with high efficiency multi-junction cells and day-lighting with concentrated solar flux conveyed into buildings by liquid light pipes. The scientific background for these projects, as well as applications will be discussed.

This illustrates an easy way to transfer power from one place to another. It is very inefficient but does work. A better solar panel would yield better results.

Laura Stachel [Bixby Center for Population, Health and Sustainability; Founder, WE CARE Solar]
Abstract:
WE CARE Solar promotes safe motherhood in developing regions by providing health workers with reliable lighting, blood bank refrigeration and mobile communication using solar electricity. In this talk, Dr. Laura Stachel discusses some of the challenges of reducing maternal mortality, which accounts for more than 530,000 deaths a year, primarily in Africa and Asia. Her dissertation research on emergency obstetric care in Northern Nigeria (supported by the Bixby Center for Population, Health and Sustainability) highlights the negative impact that inadequate electricity can have on the delivery of maternal health care. Her observations sparked an initiative to use solar-powered electricity to enhance maternity care by powering hospital lighting, mobile communication, and emergency medical equipment. Dr. Stachel will describe her experience in bringing solar electricity to one hospital and her ongoing efforts to supply smaller clinics and hospitals with lighting and communication using suitcase-sized portable solar electric systems. For more information, see www.wecaresolar.com.

Biography:
Laura Stachel M.D., M.P.H., the founder of WE CARE Solar, as is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist with fourteen years of clinical experience, holding an MD from University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and an MPH in Maternal and Child Health from University of California, Berkeley (UCB). She is currently pursuing her doctorate in public health at UCB. Her dissertation is focused on reducing maternal mortality in developing countries. In addition to her work assessing the adequacy of emergency obstetric care in Nigeria, Laura has conducted several community based projects in developing countries including (1) a nutritional assessment of pregnant and postpartum mothers in the Western Guatemalan highlands, and (2) an assessment of the effects of fluoride varnish and dental hygiene on the incidence of dental caries in El Salvadorean children. Laura serves on the Editorial Board for the Berkeley Wellness Letter and teaches at the UCB School of Public Health.
