Solar Energy For Your Home
Before you try to build your own solar power, you need to have the right tools.
Breakthroughs in solar panel technology that might make it one of the primary sources of energy.
Solar energy is actually produced by the sun with no help or interference from man,
so it’s all natural and provided to us free of charge every day in the form of light and heat. Quite remarkable.
Solar energy is getting a lot of great publicity these days and rightly so,
and the question of how solar energy is produced and used is one of the many questions on people’s minds when they start to take an interest in all things solar.

If we must be truthful to ourselves, then we all can concur that we are really facing an energy crisis as a matter of fact.
It makes a whole lot of sense to consider the advantages of solar energy as a source of your electrical energy.
With rising energy prices, dwindling fossil fuel supplies, and environmental and human concerns, all ears are attuned to the solar energy possibilities.
Simply put, that the solar generator is a gadget that runs all your electrical appliances by making use of the solar energy. The gadget transform solar energy into electrical energy by making use of photovoltaic cells. This solar generator is as well called “the solar lighting system”.
But using solar energy to power intrusive government devices and using solar energy to power your house are worlds apart, and the question on everyone’s minds is, “Is solar energy all it’s cracked up to be, and how practical is it to consider using solar energy to power my home?”
Facts about solar energy :
· Solar energy is a renewable resource
(it may go away at night, but we will always have it.)
· Solar energy will not pollute our air with carbon dioxide and other harmful greenhouse gases and bad emissions.
Solar energy can be used on different aspects. Solar energy will be used in agriculture. Greenhouses (which is entirely different from greenhouse gas) convert solar light-weight to heat to be maximized in enhancing the growth of plants and crops.
Greenhouses has been around since the Roman times and modern greenhouses were engineered in Europe in sixteenth century. Greenhouses are still an important part of horticulture nowadays,
I can testify now that nearly everybody is searching for ways to go green and more energy efficient. To welcome alternative energy production methods, there are lots of reasons for that.
Also little does some folks understand that by making use of solar power is a big way to enhance the environmentally friendliness of your house and yet lead a modern life with all the conveniences.
You can save a lot of money
Solar power costs about 80% less than your current utility bill. So if your electric bill now runs $150 per month, with solar power your electric bill would only cost $40.
Generating your own power at least pays you an extra $100 every month. And that’s if you pay a modest $150 a month for your utilities – $400 or more is not an uncommon “normal” utility bill…
Can you really afford to not use solar energy in your home?

How would you like to save money on your electric bills? Paying virtually nothing each month even? Or switching only part of your power system over from the grid, you can when you make solar power. Buying the panels or building them it’s your choice.
Many people do this and you can too. In order to make solar power your energy choice you can build your own solar panels if you so wish or you can buy them. Looking around to find the best deal will take some time. But don’t forget to always consult the experts out there before paying out money for your choice.
Wind and solar power are making a huge comeback, because the power prices are always rising. Companies charge you large amounts for supplying power that you can get for free. So why not switch over to solar or wind or both as a choice for your household electricity.
Solar power is an option that will have you choosing between three types of solar cells. Crystals in either the single or multi cell, and silicone are all that are available at present. You can even buy them out of recycled material if you wish.
However, did you know that these solar panels are seemingly very easy to make? Yes, and it doesn’t cost you that much money either to make solar power. But if you’re looking to run your full household off of solar energy, you may want to plan carefully first.
That’s where those expert advice comes in. How many solar panels will you need in order to run your whole house? Should you combine it with wind power? Of course you will also need to consider the wattage of the solar panels that are needed. Solar power isn’t something you can decide on and change to overnight. Some thought will need to be placed into the process, and compared with many choices. Find out which solar cell will best suit your needs and how many watts each panel should hold. There are many questions and routes you can take so be sure to get some advice first. Remember, the money you save going the D.I.Y route will be well worth your effort.

We have already learned to wire solar cells in a series, the hard part is over. Now we can assemble our panel and produce electricity from the sun.
The solar panel box above was built using one sheet of 3/4 inch plywood for the base. It was framed out using 3/4 inch pieces of wood around the edges.
You can see in this picture that holes were drilled through the frame of the box to provide ventilation.
A layer of Masonite peg-board is cut to fit loosely in the wells and after being coated with UV guard placed inside the solar panel box.
When attaching the solar panel to the substrate you want to be careful not to damage it.
Lay your substrate material on to the solar cells positioning carefully and allowing the caulk to dry.
Using 2 pieces of properly gauged copper wire attach your positive leads and negative leads in series.
Each panel in a solar array needs to have a blocking diode installed to prevent damage to your batteries and inverter.
Once you have everything wired up and working properly you can install your Plexiglas top. Drill pilot holes to keep your Plexiglass from breaking using an appropriate sized drill bit.
Be creative in your choice of panel materials. I have seen old windows and new windows be used in homemade solar panel construction.

EASY TO MAKE SOLAR PANELS
Solar power is a very good source of power because it is renewable, environmental friendly and free. It would be a very nice idea to have a solar power system at home. However, due to the high setup cost ($2000 or more), not many people would use this system.
I am about to let you in on a little secret that can have you building your own solar panels for home use! By making your own solar power system that will save you thousands!
If you think buying a solar power system is too expensive for you, you can make it yourself with a much lower budget. You will need a solar panel first. You will use solar cells, wood plate, soldering iron, solder, flux, and tabbing to make a panel. These items are easy to get from local stores and you would not need any special tool. Even a novice can make it without problem.Solar panels are the wave of the future! So where do we start? How do you get your hands on the material to start building your own solar panels? Well lets first find out what solar panels are. That way you at least sound educated when you pitch this to your family!
Solar cells are almost always made from silicon, that is the same material we use to make computer chips. Silicon is one of the worlds most common elements, and is a leading component of sand and many kinds of rocks. A solar cell is built in layers, with two layers of silicon separated by a thin layer of insulating material. All three layers work together and convert sunlight into electricity.
When sunlight hits the solar cell, it produces an electric charge. Like a battery, the charge is positive on one side of the cell, and negative on the other side. Connecting a wire to the positive and to the negative side will allow electricity to flow. This flow, or current, can be used to power a small light bulb, turn an electric motor, or recharge a battery.
Broken solar cells can be bought for cheap money, and THEY STILL WORK! That is what I recommend. Of course you will need framing material to mount to the top of your house and two pieces of glass. The rest is pretty simple, hook your panels together, positive to positive and negative to negative, that way you get only 2 wires when you are done.Take these two wires and connect them to your power inverter and connect the power inverter to the electrical grid to your house. These steps seem hard but can be broken up into much simpler and easier steps.

Solar power is a very good source of power because it is renewable, environmental friendly and free. It would be a very nice idea to have a solar power system at home. However, due to the high setup cost ($2000 or more), not many people would use this system.Did you know that you can lower your monthly utility bills by reducing the amount of regular electricity that you use at home? When you install a solar power kit at home you will be reducing the amount of fossil fuels that are being used which in turn helps to protect the environment. The advantage of converting your home to solar power is to help protect the environment. Fossil fuels that are used such as coal and oil pollute the air and harm the environment, but the solar power kits have no negative effects on the environment. If you appreciate the occasional DIY project, then this one is perfect for you. With a proper set of tools and the right materials like plywood, glass sheets, and photovoltaic cells, you will be able to start building your own solar energy panels. You probably already have most of the necessary tools at home, and the other materials are easily available in stores or on the Internet.
Where to Install your Homemade Solar Panels
The rooftop is generally the best place to install solar energy panels, as this is the area that usually receives the most direct sunlight. If this is not the case, the panels can also be placed in the backyard, in a spot where the sunlight is not obstructed.
Homemade solar panels are easy to install as long as you have an instructional guide handy. You will find a number of affordable resources available on the Internet that you can use.
